Materials Supply Manager (BBBH348) North Yorkshire, England

Salary: GBP50000 - GBP60000 per annum + car allowance + bonus

MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Materials Supply Manager on behalf of our Engineering client, who are a global leader in their respective field. Reporting into the Head of Operations, the Materials Supply Manager will be based in North Yorkshire area.  

The successful Materials Supply Manager, based in North Yorkshire area, will join this exciting business and help to provide the cost assurance function on all site spend.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Materials Planning team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Create and maintain skills matrices, along with tailored training and development plans, to ensure flexibility and growth within the team.
  • Produce accurate weekly and monthly KPIs to demonstrate process control, compliance, and performance.
  • Build and maintain professional, commercially robust, and effective relationships with the supplier base.
  • Ensure MRP outputs are actioned promptly and accurately.
  • Identify potential supply gaps early, with a clear understanding of cause, impact, and solutions to mitigate disruption.
  • Foster proactive, constructive relationships across all on-site functional teams.
  • Ensure material schedules and purchase orders are issued on time and that supplier actions are closely monitored.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of inventory master data.
  • Understand ERP requirements and leverage the functionality of ERP/MRP systems effectively.
  • Support the achievement of stock level and inventory management targets.
  • Carry out additional duties as required to support the business.

 

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours

  • Proven track record of success in a similar role within a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
  • Strong experience with material supply methodologies, including Lean principles such as Plan for Every Part (PFEP).
  • Excellent understanding of MPS and MRP principles, systems, and best practices.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities.
  • Proactive problem solver, skilled at identifying and addressing supply chain risks in advance.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
  • Willingness to work beyond core hours when required.
  • Skilled influencer and negotiator with the ability to build strong supplier relationships.
  • Motivational leader with the ability to lead by example and inspire team members.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills across all levels of the business.
  • Strong analytical skills, with sound judgement and decision-making ability.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a comparable role.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and related tools.
