We currently have an opportunity for a Senior/Principal WTG Engineering Consultant to be based in London on a Staff basis.

The Role:

  • Working across multiple offshore wind farm projects, the primary focus for the Consultant is to deliver scopes of work on Offshore Wind Farm projects
  • To support, and depending on experience lead, the expansion of Wind Turbine Engineering and WTG Package Management services for Offshore Wind developments through a wide range of consulting and engineering projects’ portfolio

Scope of Responsibilities:

Technical Advisory:

  • Appraise and review project and technology feasibility
  • Manage the technical risks especially during the design phases
  • Support turbine/foundation design optimisation
  • Manage technical interfaces
  • Provide technical due diligence
  • Engage with project certification bodies
  • Triage operational issues and advise on solutions
  • Design of commissioning and testing programmes
  • Consult/lead structural assessments of key components
  • Undertake feasibility assessments for commercial scale developments
  • Manage project interfaces between OEMs, developers, foundation designers and certification bodies

Energy Yield:

  • Develop and consult on site layout development and optimization activities
  • Conduct/manage/check wind resource and energy yield assessments
  • Assess potential retrofit add-ons/control upgrades, and judge their efficacy
  • Challenging/justifying the assumptions made in business cases
  • Due diligence for the sale or purchase of wind farms

Operational Performance Optimisation:

  • Targeted operation and maintenance activities to reduce downtime
  • Justifying retrofit add-ons/control upgrades, and judging their efficacy
  • Quantifying the performance of prototypes
  • Challenging/justifying the assumptions made in business cases
  • Due diligence for the sale or purchase of wind farms

Independent Load Analysis:

  • Loads analysis and certification engagement on behalf of developers
  • Developing toolchains for fixed and floating wind analyses
  • Manage project interfaces between OEMs, internal foundation designers and certification bodies

Competencies & Soft Skills:

Specific technical attributes:

  • Strong engineering background and ideally previous experience with aeroelastic software calculations (HAWC, Bladed, FLEX or other)
  • Ability to risk assess options to reach decisions in a dynamic and schedule driven environment
  • Experience with consulting work

Qualifications:

Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent. Chartered Engineer
