Assistant Accountant

South Yarra | $80,000–$85,000 + super | Full-time in the office 

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join a rapidly growing, multi-site organisation undergoing significant transformation. This is a high-volume role suited to someone with strong accounts payable experience who enjoys improving processes, working with systems and supporting a business through growth and change.

The role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day accounts payable function while also supporting accounts receivable, reconciliations and month-end activities. Working across multiple sites and entities, you will manage a high volume of transactions and help strengthen processes as the organisation continues to scale.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing approximately 2,500 accounts payable invoices each month
• Managing fortnightly payment runs and employee reimbursements
• Completing bank, credit card, supplier statement and subledger reconciliations
• Supporting accounts receivable, invoicing and collections
• Assisting with journals, accruals and month-end reporting
• Monitoring AP automation metrics and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
• Supporting finance projects, systems improvements and broader transformation initiatives

About you

You will bring strong accounts payable experience gained within a high-volume, multi-site, multi-entity or subsidiary-based organisation. You will be confident managing competing priorities, working across complex systems and contributing to process improvement and transformation projects.

Ideally, you will have:

• At least two to three years’ experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping or an Assistant Accountant role
• Demonstrated experience processing high volumes across multiple sites, entities or subsidiaries
• Strong end-to-end accounts payable knowledge
• Experience with AP automation platforms such as Medius, Coupa or Basware
• Exposure to larger ERP systems such as SAP, Netsuite, D365
• Experience supporting systems implementations, finance projects or transformation initiatives
• Intermediate Excel skills
