Help shape the future of Animation and VFX: become a leader in design education

This Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor role focuses on delivering high quality teaching, research, and service in the School of Design, across various areas related to animation & visual effects research and practice. The appointed candidate should have a broad understanding of the value of animation and visual effects - in New Zealand as well as internationally. The candidate should be familiar with contemporary discourse in the field and able to foster critical and creative thinking. As well as experience teaching in higher education, the candidate should have a strong professional portfolio, or research in animation and visual effects, with substantial expertise in one or more of the following areas:  

  • 3D Modelling & Animation
  • Character Performance
  • Narative development & storytelling
  • AR/VR/XR & immersive interaction
  • Visual effects
  • Motion design
  • Conceptual/experimental practice
  • Critical engagement in the field of animation & VFX

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate an excellent creative practice, and/or an existing research programme, and will have identified strategies for further developing their research/creative practice within the School of Design’s strategic research areas.
