Job description

Working in partnership with TAYTO/Golden Wonder in Scunthorpe we are recruiting reliable, hardworking Grade 5 Machine Operator to work on night shifts (10pm to 6am, Monday to Friday). 

 

To assume a combined role as Team Leader / Machine Operator with a primary responsibility of operating a machine/equipment embedded on the line with additional leadership responsibilities and in a position to support and back-fill the line Area Manager as and when required. Deputise for the Area Manager, taking on full management responsibilities to cover short and long term absences.

 

 

Principal Tasks:

 

Machine Operative

 

1                Be multi-skilled across anyone of the Primary and Secondary Packing, Weighing, Automation, Flavouring, Frying or Extruded Machine Operative roles.

 

2                Operate all machines/equipment inline with training guidelines, giving particular consideration to health and safety guidelines at all times and wearing the correct PPE for each task.

 

3                Have a working knowledge and understanding of other machine operator roles and responsibilities as well as an understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes.

 

4                Monitor and maintain product quality in accordance with training guidelines and customer requirements to include dates, seals and weight checks.

 

5                Carry out all necessary quality, HACCP, safety and flavour checks, including completing paperwork as required.

 

6                Optimising machine/equipment set-up, evaluating and correct faults within job authority, escalating issues to the Engineering Department as required.

 

7                Maintain housekeeping standards.

 

 

Team Leader

 

1       Health, Safety and Environment:

  • Improve health and safety performance in accordance with site objectives, legislation, site and company health and safety plans, policies and procedures.
  • Report any accidents immediately, notify relevant personnel and where appropriate seek first ai
  • Carry out accident investigations to include making recommendations as and when required..
  •     Participate in safety audit programmes and initiatives.

 

2       Quality:

  • Support the Area Manager and line Team, promoting a proactive approach towards quality awareness, recommending, supporting and driving forward changes to improve quality standard.
  • Strive to achieve 100% Right First Time.
  • Oversee quality checks on the line, reporting and escalating any issues promptly.
  • Able to look at the bigger picture and take charge in ‘championing’ quality and hygiene improvements across the lines.

 

3       Efficiency / Customer Service:

  • Assist the Area Manager to achieve the daily shift production plan in conjunction with other members of the shift production and line team.
  • Play an active part in the team’s activities to review capacity targets and potential.

 

4       Costs:

  • Take positive action to minimise all cost elements of the operation, including material conversion/waste, utilities, labour and product. Reduce waste through optimising machine set-up, reduce giveaway and compliance to reclaim and WIP, flex-out excess labour, crew to budget (or less), maximise productivity rates and labour recovery against standard through OEE.
  • Work with the Area Managers across the shift to develop and implement ideas to reduce costs and increase efficiencies and work within budgeted constraints.

 

5       Leadership:
