About

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior WFM & Payroll Consultant to join our client, working across complex payroll, workforce management (WFM) and HCM initiatives for their clients across Australia.

This is a hands-on consulting role combining payroll expertise, systems knowledge and client advisory. You will work across implementations, optimisation and transformation initiatives, helping clients improve their payroll and workforce processes while ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.

You will act as a trusted advisor to clients – understanding their challenges, identifying root causes and translating these into practical system and process solutions. This isn't purely a configuration role; it's about understanding how payroll and WFM systems work, what needs to change and guiding clients through the solution.

The environment is fast-moving and varied, making this ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, managing multiple client engagements and rolling up their sleeves when required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support WFM, Payroll and HCM implementations, upgrades, optimisation and transformation initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder consultations to understand business needs, pain points and system requirements.
  • Translate requirements into practical payroll, WFM and HCM solutions.
  • Diagnose complex payroll and system issues, conducting root cause analysis and identifying required process or configuration changes.
  • Review and optimise rostering, scheduling, time & attendance and payroll processes.
  • Provide functional expertise throughout configuration and solution development, working closely with technical and configuration specialists.
  • Develop and execute test scenarios, functional testing and UAT.
  • Conduct data validation, payroll reconciliation and parallel-pay analysis to ensure calculation accuracy and go-live readiness.
  • Review implementation workbooks, system requirements and build documentation to understand and troubleshoot existing configurations.
  • Interpret Modern Awards, EBAs and relevant pay conditions, ensuring payroll outcomes remain compliant.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors and project teams to manage dependencies and resolve delivery challenges.
  • Deliver training, knowledge transfer and documentation, supporting clients through implementation, go-live and stabilisation.
  • Provide hands-on payroll support when required, including helping clients resolve urgent payroll issues.
  • Build strong client relationships and communicate complex payroll and system issues in a clear and practical way.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years' experience across workforce management, time & attendance and/or payroll operations.
  • Strong experience with Dayforce, ideally across both Payroll and WFM.
  • Experience implementing, supporting or optimising WFM/payroll systems.
  • Demonstrated experience across end-to-end system delivery, from discovery and requirements through testing, go-live and post-implementation support.
  • Strong hands-on payroll knowledge and understanding of how system configuration impacts payroll outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of Modern Awards, EBAs and Australian/New Zealand pay conditions.
  • Experience facilitating requirements workshops and translating business needs into system solutions.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience with functional testing, UAT, payroll reconciliation and/or parallel-pay testing.
  • Ability to navigate system workbooks, requirements and implementation documentation.
  • Strong client-facing, stakeholder management and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable working across multiple clients and competing priorities in a fast-moving consulting environment.
  • Collaborative, hands-on attitude with a willingness to share knowledge and get involved where needed.
  • Additional experience with SAP, Workday or UKG would be highly regarded, with SAP experience particularly beneficial.

Why Apply?

  • Work across a diverse range of clients, industries and complex payroll/WFM challenges.
  • Exposure across implementations, transformations, optimisation and payroll advisory, rather than being tied to one project.
  • Flexible working environment with a genuine focus on work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to broaden your expertise across Dayforce and other leading HCM platforms.
  • Join a growing, laid-back and collaborative team that values can-do attitudes, knowledge sharing and people without ego.
  • Strong progression opportunities as the team continues to grow, including potential future Team Lead opportunities.
