IT Project Manager – Data Migration
Location: Melbourne
Duration: 8 months initially
Rate: $1000-1200 per day inc super
Working rights: must be an Australian permanent resident or Australian Citizen
About
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a complex IT separation program as part of a business divestment. This role will be responsible for planning and delivering the structured extraction and migration of data, ensuring a clean and controlled disentanglement of systems, infrastructure, and applications.
You will operate across multiple technology domains, coordinating technical and business stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery within agreed timelines, governance frameworks, and commercial parameters.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end IT separation planning and execution across applications, infrastructure, and data domains
- Develop and manage integrated data migration and separation plans across ERP, business applications, infrastructure, and collaboration platforms
- Coordinate cross-functional technical and business teams to ensure aligned execution
- Manage third-party vendors and service providers across multiple workstreams
- Oversee data extraction, migration, and access segregation activities
- Identify, manage, and mitigate program risks, dependencies, and constraints
- Ensure alignment to transitional service and contractual obligations
- Drive delivery outcomes within agreed schedule, scope, and budget parameters
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering IT separation, carve-out, or divestment programs
- Strong background in governance, risk management, and structured delivery frameworks
- Experience operating within M&A or divestment environments
- Proven capability managing complex, multi-vendor ecosystems
- Executive-level stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Domain experience across the following is essential:
- ERP data extraction and migration
- Business application and SaaS transitions
- End user computing and unstructured data migrations (including collaboration platforms and tenant transitions)
- Infrastructure separation including networks, hosting (on-prem and cloud), identity and access management, backup, disaster recovery, and security realignment
- Familiarity with transitional service agreement management
- Strong financial tracking and cost control capability
- Relevant project or program management certifications
