Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Wood CNC Operator to join a growing manufacturing team based in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC professional with experience working with wood, timber-based products, plastics, composites or similar materials. You'll be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC router machinery to produce high-quality components to specification while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards.

Key Duties

  • Set up, programme and operate CNC machinery.
  • Create and modify CNC programmes using VCarve software.
  • Carry out cutting, routing, drilling and finishing operations on wood, timber-based products and other materials.
  • Work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Inspect components and monitor quality throughout production.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
  • Support assembly and production activities when required.
  • Maintain accurate production records and ensure compliance with all health, safety and quality procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing, woodworking, joinery, furniture or similar environment.
  • Experience setting up and programming CNC machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, numerical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Competent using hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience working with wood, MDF, plywood, laminates or other timber-based materials.
  • Experience using VCarve software.
  • Knowledge of plastics manufacturing or injection moulding.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
