The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Senior Special Workholding Design Engineer to join a successful engineering team based in Nottingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mechanical design professional to take ownership of bespoke projects from concept through to completion, working directly with customers and technical stakeholders to develop innovative workholding and fixturing solutions.

You will play a key role in designing customer-specific mechanical solutions, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards while meeting agreed timescales and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with customers to understand application requirements and engineering challenges.
• Develop and execute mechanical designs using 3D CAD software, including Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks.
• Conduct simulations and testing activities to validate and optimise designs.
• Produce technical documentation, design specifications and engineering reports.
• Manage projects to agreed deadlines and resource plans.
• Collaborate with customers, manufacturing teams and fellow engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, design methodologies and engineering best practices.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• A strong background in mechanical design engineering.
• Ideally 3+ years' engineering experience, preferably within workholding, fixturing or a related precision engineering environment.
• Experience using Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks.
• Excellent understanding of engineering design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A meticulous approach with strong attention to detail.
• A Mechanical Engineering degree would be advantageous, although practical experience is equally valued.
