Programme Manager

About the role

The Programme Manager will have the strategic responsibility for leading the design and delivery of the programme of work required to implement, transition customers and evaluate the success of a new billing system and transformation programme within Business Stream by March 2022.

The role holder reports to the Technology and Transformation Director with responsibility for the performance of all the workstream projects and evaluations within the programme. This includes responsibility for ensuring appropriate resourcing, budget planning, governance structures, design decisions, financial reporting and cycles by using programme management methodologies. Key will be stakeholder management including ensuring engagement and communications channels are managed efficiently to meet all programme deliverables and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in line with Business Stream’s strategic goals.

This role will lead a team of senior internal and third-party supplier workstream leads and subject matter experts that will be responsible for creating the overall programme milestone roadmap and subsequent delivery activity plans linking and working to influence milestones of partner governance cycles where necessary.  They will have responsibility for the team management, engagement and performance of the senior workstream leads throughout the duration of the programme lifecycle.

Key Tasks

Accountability for effectively managing delivery of KPI’s to budget and timescale

Responsible for leading and managing the programme delivery team, within a matrix management approach, ensuring high levels of team engagement

Responsible for leading the creation and implementation of the programme governance cycle of meeting’s and reporting / change methodologies and approach.

Responsible for recommending and applying appropriate project management principles, processes and methodologies for a variety of projects and discrete packages of work

Responsible for ensuring the timely accurate preparation, presentation of financial and progress reports, including but not limited to, current status of project milestone completion dates, RAID log and timely resource demands

Accountable for proactively mitigating risks and issues in order to minimise impact to the overarching programme deliverables, Business Stream and Yorkshire Water

Accountable for developing and maintaining a high-performance project culture that meets the values of Business Stream

Responsible for leading a programme where workstream team leaders at all levels adopt continuous improvement practices throughout daily work

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone capable and confident in planning and managing complex business change, IT transformation and data migration driven transformation programmes/projects to success. They will have the drive and determination to achieve successful delivery overcoming problems and issues as they arise and preferably beforehand.

They will be able to challenge the ‘status quo’ in a positive way to produce innovative or better solutions, bringing good practice in an environment with limited programme delivery experience.

They must be pragmatic and reasonable – flexible in approach to achieve overarching strategic goals and have experience of business process outsourcing with excellent problem-solving abilities.

They should be able to demonstrate significant experience of programme/ project management application and project delivery, including a qualification such as Prince 2, PMP or similar.
