Fabricator / Welder – TIG (Stainless Steel, Tube & Pipework)

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per year

A growing manufacturing organisation is seeking a skilled and time‑served Fabricator/Welder with strong TIG welding experience, particularly on small‑bore stainless‑steel tube and pipework. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who can deliver high‑quality, full‑penetration TIG welds and work accurately on complex assemblies.

The position involves positional welding, restricted‑access welding and working to precise assembly sequences. A first‑time‑right approach is essential. Many components are pre‑cut, machined or formed by subcontractors, but there remains a requirement for manual fabrication using hand and power tools.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Detailed, methodical and quality‑focused approach to fabrication and welding
  • TIG welding on 300‑series stainless‑steel tube and pipe, including full‑penetration welds
  • Cutting, joining and shaping metal using heat, tools and fabrication equipment
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and assembly instructions
  • Performing fitting, setting, installing, cutting and welding tasks
  • Back‑purged TIG welding
  • Accurate use of section rolls and plate rolls
  • Turn‑table welding and orbital welding
  • Use of electrical and manual tools as required
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workspace
  • Ensuring correct materials are available and used appropriately

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator
  • Strong TIG welding capability, ideally with small‑bore stainless‑steel tube/pipe
  • Technical training or certification in welding/fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings
  • Proficient in MIG and TIG welding processes
  • Skilled in the use of electrical and manual tools, measurement equipment and fabrication machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and a steady, precise working approach
  • Understanding of safety standards and willingness to use PPE
  • Ability to demonstrate welding ability during the interview process
