PLANT & TOOL FITTER

Salary: £36,200 per annum (o/t available)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant & Tool Fitter to join an established plant and tool hire business.

This is a varied, hands-on position working within a busy workshop and plant hire environment, with responsibility for the servicing, maintenance, testing and repair of plant and small tools, as well as attending customer sites when required.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within plant hire, tool hire, plant engineering, mechanical fitting or a similar environment and will be confident diagnosing and resolving faults across a range of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Test, maintain, service and repair a range of plant and hand tools

- Carry out repairs and maintenance at customer sites when required

- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs

- Clean, inspect and prepare returned hire equipment

- Maintain workshop tools, test equipment and ancillary equipment

- Carry out bodywork repairs and painting to maintain the appearance of the hire fleet

- Update fleet numbers and equipment identification as required

- Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment

- Deliver or collect equipment when required

- Assist drivers with loading and unloading vehicles

- Liaise with office staff regarding equipment required for future bookings

- Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues

- Assist other depots or teams when required

- Keep the workshop and plant yard clean, safe and organised

- Ensure equipment and external storage areas are secured at the end of each day

- Work in accordance with company procedures, ISO requirements and health & safety standards

- Attend relevant training courses to develop product and technical knowledge

- Carry out other reasonable duties as required by management

About You 

The ideal candidate will have: 

- Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Engineer, Tool Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or similar

- Experience working with plant, construction equipment and/or small power tools

- A good understanding of mechanical fault finding, servicing and repairs

- A full UK driving licence

- Good geographical knowledge of the local area

- Good IT/computer skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- A practical and analytical approach to problem solving

- The ability to learn about new products and equipment

- A strong commitment to health & safety and following established procedures

- A customer-focused approach

- The ability to work effectively as part of a team, while also being comfortable working independently

- A flexible approach to overtime and additional tasks when required

- A fit and active approach to a hands-on role
