Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician (Nov-HMP Pharmacy) Chelmsford, England

Salary: GBP25113 - GBP28000 per annum

CRG Medical Services are currently looking for four pharmacy technicians to join our team of highly skilled healthcare professionals in HMP Chelmsford.

You will work as part of a great team of multi skilled healthcare professionals including nurses, doctors and paramedics to provide a modern, vibrant service to our patients.

Working in a secure environment has its challenges but is perfectly safe and you will be supported by prison officers whilst on residential wings.

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist in the delivery of a high quality pharmacy service to the prison population. You can expect to provide medicines management services to assist in tackling identified inequalities within the prison. This includes providing pharmacy related information to patients, prison officers and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that the level of advice given is appropriate to need. Conveying complex and sensitive information in an easily understandable form to prisoners is very important, there is a large part of the population that has low educational achievement and many cannot read or write.

You will also assist with the implementation and development of pharmacy support to all the residential wings in the prison which includes, where appropriate, advising patients on the correct use of medication. It goes without saying that you will be responsible for dispensing medicines, calculating doses / quantities for supply where there is a specific requirement for accuracy e.g. Methadone preparation.

Medicines reconciliation is completed daily for all prisoners who are admitted to the prison direct from the courts or via internal transfer from another prison.

The package and benefits:

  • Salary £25,113-£28,000 DOE
  • Full time contracts available (40 hours), part time applications also welcome
  • Revalidation assistance
  • On-going supported professional development
  • Free mandatory training

What you need for the role:

  • You will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualifications
  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • 3 years residency in the UK
  • A right to work in the UK

Should you be successful, following successful vetting clearance and compliance checks, you will receive a full induction to the business and your role, including access to a number of relevant training courses and a series of shadow shifts with an experienced Pharmacy Technician.
