IBM Mainframe CICS & MQ System Programmer (Remote)
Our client, a global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced IBM Mainframe CICS & MQ System Programmer to join their team in their clients’ offices in London/ Craigforth/ Reading. You must be based in the UK and will be able to work remotely for this contract.
This is a 12 month temporary contract, to start ASAP.
The right candidate should have good knowledge of IBM CICS and IBM MQ and experience in installation/ upgrade/ configuring/ customisation of CICS and MQ and related ISV products.
Key Requirements:
- Good understanding of IBM CICS and IBM MQ
- Knowledge and experience in installation/ upgrade/ configuring/ customisation of CICS and MQ and related ISV products
- Strong knowledge in CICS Resources like Transaction, File, Program, MQCONN, MQMON, Tranclass, TDQ and TSQ
- Working knowledge in MRO, ISC and Function shipping
- Knowledge in IBM MQ concepts like BSDS, Pageset, Buffer pools and other MQ Objects (Channel, Queue, Process)
- Working knowledge in SMP/E
- Knowledge in RACF Security rules needed for CICS and MQ resources
- Strong knowledge in JCL and basic knowledge in REXX, CLIST, COBOL, CICS API, MQ API and Assembler
- Strong expertise on CICS and MQ administration and troubleshooting
- Perform root cause analysis for huge impact changes and incidents and generate action items and follow-up till closure.
- Ability to write simple COBOL codes to maintain and support customised environment built using COBOL, CICS and MQ APIs
- Manage system configuration such as PARMLIB, PROCLIB, and MQ PAGE Datasets
- Performance Tuning in CICS using SMF/RMF/ASG-TMON and Extract performance statistics using SAS & MXG
- Involvement in disaster recovery setup and conducting DR drills
- Capture and analyse dumps and traces, LOGREC records
- Ability to assimilate business and operational requirements, ability to document work processes
- Work with onsite and offshore team members, support and guide them on their skill development on need basis
- 8x5 working hours per week
- On-call support on a rotational basis (out of office/ weekends)
- Support for any planned activities outside business hours
