Site Manager - Data Center Operations 

Locations: NY & TX  OR Needs to be open to relocation
Base Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 + Equity

An industry-leading organization is seeking an experienced Data Center Operations Manager to lead and scale multi-site operations teams across a campus or regional portfolio of mission-critical facilities.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing data center operations, ensuring infrastructure availability, reliability, and performance consistently meet or exceed SLA commitments. You will drive operational strategy, build high-performing teams, and oversee the full lifecycle management of critical data center infrastructure.

 

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and scale an operations organization of 10+ technicians and specialists across multiple data center facilities.

  • Own end-to-end operational accountability for uptime, reliability, security, and availability.

  • Act as senior escalation point for critical incidents and oversee incident and change management processes.

  • Develop and execute operational strategy aligned to business growth and campus expansion plans.

 

Team Development & Workforce Planning

  • Hire, develop, and manage cross-functional teams including Facility Managers, Operations Technicians, and Logistics Specialists.

  • Build organizational capability through structured performance management, coaching, mentoring, and career development.

  • Forecast headcount needs and establish staffing models to meet current and future demand.

  • Lead succession planning and long-term talent development initiatives.

 

Service Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Oversee ticket management, work prioritization, shift scheduling, and on-call rotations across facilities and logistics teams.

  • Drive operational KPIs including uptime, MTTR, MTBF, capacity utilization, inventory accuracy, and cost efficiency.

  • Lead structured post-incident reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.

  • Champion continuous improvement, automation initiatives, safety programs, and environmental sustainability efforts.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Construction, and Product teams to deliver business objectives.

  • Lead change management initiatives and implement new technologies, processes, and operating models at scale.

  • Influence senior stakeholders and ensure alignment across operational and strategic priorities.

 

About You

Experience & Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in data center operations, mission-critical facilities, or IT infrastructure.

  • 2+ years managing teams of 10+ employees in a 24x7 environment.

  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding availability and reliability SLAs.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure including power distribution, cooling systems, server hardware, networking, and facility operations.

  • Experience with incident management, change management, and vendor oversight.

  • Data-driven approach with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Experience

  • 8+ years in data center operations with 4+ years managing larger teams.

  • Experience within hyperscale environments or Tier III / IV facilities (50MW+ campuses).

  • Familiarity with operational excellence frameworks and large-scale campus environments.

  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $150,000 – $180,000, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
