As the Regional MVA Lead Tutor, you will co-ordinator the delivery of Elysium Healthcare’s regional services Therapeutic management of Violence and Aggression (MVA courses). You will be responsible for managing the administration of training and development, organising the MVA and training needs.

It is essential you provide high quality classroom based training, on-ward coaching and support in all aspects of the Management of Violence and Aggression (MVA). You will support clinical practice through audit, advice, problem solving, teaching and supervision. You will act as a resource in MVA practice and care delivery, being the main point of contact for all MVA enquiries in the region.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, consulting on the preparation of individualised patient centred risk management plans. You will work within General Service Association standards to ensure best practice in the recognition, prevention and therapeutic management of aggression and violence.

You will be work at Ty Gwyn Hall, a rehabilitation and treatment service for individuals who have been diagnosed with a range of mental health conditions.

The Hospital is located in Abergavenny, South Wales and is within easy reach of the M4, M5 and national rail networks. The service support referrals from across the country and our experienced multi-disciplinary team has an excellent record in delivering positive outcomes to service users with a wide range of mental health diagnosis.

Role – Regional MVA Lead Tutor
Location – Llantillo Pertholey, Abergavenny
Salary – £30,000 - £35,000 + Car Allowance
Hours – 37.5 per week

Your responsibilities
.
- Promoting the use of root cause understanding followed by de-escalation and ensure that any physical intervention is used as a last resort and promote safety, dignity and patient focused care throughout the undertaking of duties.
- Supervise the holistic approach/ practice locally and regionally of the safe and therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression.
- Meet bi-annually (as a minimum) with the local and regional Management of Violence and Aggression tutors.
- Review local Management of Violence and Aggression tutors’ portfolios quarterly and relevant teaching practice (theoretical/ practical) and provide feedback to MVA Director for Elysium.
- In line with SMT, support and investigate any complaints arising from the Management of Violence and Aggression courses or tutors.
- Maintain accreditation as a Management of Violence and Aggression tutor with the GSA and ensure that of other tutors within your region and co-ordinate this to and through MVA Director for Elysium.
- To assist SMT, PCT, Security and patient safety lead and training department with the co-ordination of a MVA training plan, department training plans and to help identify individual training and development needs.
- Prepare all the necessary training materials, e.g. PowerPoint handouts.
- Develop and maintain the quality of MVA risk assessments through teaching, guidance, supervision and audit for both venue and physical skills practice.

To be successful in this role, you'll need
.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of dealing with challenging behaviour and violence and aggressing within both a secure and open setting and within a specialist sector area (Mental Health/ Learning Disability/ CAMHS/ Neuro or Education.
- Knowledge and understanding of dealing with challenging behaviour and violence and aggression within a health and/ or social care and/or educational setting.
- Evidence of a minimum of 2 years clinical experience working within health and/ or social care and/ or educational setting/ environment where individuals exhibited challenging behaviour.
- Evidence of clinically based credibility and/or qualification by experience or completion of a relevant health/ social care or management certificate (Nursing, NVQ or CQF).
- Evidence of or information to support working towards a nationally recognised level 3 further education and teaching/ training certificate/ award (level 3 teaching qualification).
- Nationally recognised GSA Tutor (A Grade) qualification in the recognised prevention and therapeutic management of violence and aggression.
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience within the (GSA) model.
- CIEH level 2 Award in Risk Assessment and Management (preferred, however not essential as this course/ qualification will be provided as part of the successful applicants ongoing CPD)
