Join the multidisciplinary team at Rhodes Wood Hospital in Hatfield as a Full-Time Dietitian, you will deliver and offer contributions to the development of the specialist treatment pathway and close liaison with local community teams, paediatric and other inpatient psychiatric wards will be essential.

You will be responsible for contributing towards the delivery of the service offering assessment, formulation and treatment to young people and their families/carers. You will be liaising and working with professionals to support the service user’s progression and recovery.

You will be working at Rhodes Wood Hospital, a specialist Inpatient Eating Disorder service for children and young people aged 8-18 years. The services emphasise not only the mental wellbeing of young people but also their educational, emotional and physical needs.

Role – Full-Time Dietitian
Location – Hatfield, Hertfordshire
Salary – Equivalent to NHS Band 7
Hours – 37.5 per week, includes 1 month a week to work a weekend.

Your responsibilities
.
- Acting as a point of contact for patients, carers and staff.
- To assess patients weight and advice regarding calories for the multi-disciplinary team.
- To contribute to team formulations for services users with the multi-disciplinary team.
- To devise treatment plans with the multi-disciplinary team and assist them to carry these through.
- To liaise closely with colleagues across a range of care teams to provide timely, accurate and effective treatment, supporting non-specialist colleagues in carrying out direct work themselves wherever this is appropriate.
- To be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Co-facilitator of a group therapy session ‘Food and Me’ – this is a 6 session Psychoeducational group session for all patients who progress through the treatment programme. Focusing on the physical and psychological effects of starvation, understanding each food group and how the body uses food as well as explaining metabolism and target weights.
- To liaise with the Hospitals Catering Department and ensure that the menu is reviewed regularly and the recipe allergen list is up to date.

To be successful in this role, you'll need
.
- Qualification in Dietetics and registration with HCPC and BDA
- Evidence of previous and ongoing commitment to continuous professional development.
- Post-qualifying experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties
- Knowledge and understanding of Eating Disorders in children and young people, and their impact on both the client group and their families/carers.
- Ability to work both assertively and with awareness of one’s limitations; excellent telephone, face to face and written communication skills with children and young people, carers and referrers.
- Excellent assessment skills with this client group, including risk assessment and management.
- Compassionate - Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, carers and relatives (as appropriate) remaining sensitive and empathetic.
- Listens to others’ views respecting and valuing individual needs.
- Professional and service user focussed approach with inspirational skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, ability to manage own time and plan timed activities.
- Ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Able to take instruction and direction and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to record and retrieve information on paper/electronic records as appropriate.
