Leading Australian engineering company that specialises various hi-tech industries, that fabricate sheetmetal components for both local and global markets. They have a large state-of-the-art machine and fabrication shop based in the Boronia area.
A quality inspector in a sheet metal fabrication section ensures finished parts meet specifications by conducting visual, dimensional, and non-destructive inspections. This section does metal laser cutting, bending, metal stamping and various other sheetmetal activities, your job is to ensure they are being made as per design.
You will work of engineering drawings and use various measuring equipment to check parts, you will be inspecting and verifying that manufactured components meet quality and technical specifications.
This includes using metrology equipment like calipers, and micrometers, performing first-off inspections, maintaining quality records, and collaborating with engineers and production teams to resolve issues. A key part of the role is ensuring compliance with quality standards like AS9100 applying quality standards, performing root cause analysis for defects, and documenting findings.
Key responsibilities
- Inspections:
Conduct inspections of incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products to ensure they meet quality and technical standards. - Measurement and validation:
Use metrology equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), micrometers, and height gauges, to verify the precision of machined components. - Quality documentation:
Maintain quality records, report findings, and prepare documentation for batch and part release.
