Great opportunity to join a successful and well-established precision engineering business located in Heidelberg West.
Our client is a highly regarded Australian engineering company with a strong history of providing precision machining, fabrication and engineering services to a variety of industries.
Due to ongoing work requirements, they are looking for an experienced CNC VMC Machinist / Setter to join their engineering team.
This is a hands-on position involving the setting and operation of CNC Vertical Machining Centres, producing precision-machined components from engineering drawings.
The work involves a variety of machining jobs, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys jobbing work rather than repetitive production machining.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Setting and operating CNC Vertical Machining Centres
- Machining precision components to engineering drawings
- Selecting cutting tools, tooling and workholding equipment
- Setting machine offsets and machining parameters
- Carrying out tool changes and machine adjustments
- Checking components using precision measuring equipment
- Working to close tolerances and quality requirements
- Assisting with other workshop duties when required
- Working as part of a skilled engineering team
TO APPLY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
- Trade qualifications in Fitting & Machining or similar
- Experience setting and operating CNC VMC machines
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of cutting tools, feeds and speeds
- Experience with precision measuring equipment
- Ability to work to tight tolerances
- CNC programming experience advantageous
- Experience with jobbing or small-batch machining
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
