An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing business.

This is not just an operator position. The role will predominantly involve programming, setting and operating CNC Vertical Machining Centres, producing low-volume precision components for industries including Defence and heavy vehicles.

The work is varied and will suit a machinist who enjoys programming, setting up jobs and taking responsibility for producing quality components rather than simply loading and unloading machines.

THE ROLE

• CNC VMC programming, setting and operating
• Programming jobs from drawings and specifications
• Low-volume and precision component machining
• Setting tooling, workholding and machining parameters
• Producing components for Defence, heavy vehicle and other industrial applications
• Checking completed components and maintaining quality standards
• Working independently as part of an experienced machining team

TO APPLY YOU SHOULD HAVE:

• Trade qualifications in machining/toolmaking or similar
• CNC VMC programming and setting experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good knowledge of tooling, speeds, feeds and machining processes
• Strong measuring and inspection skills
• High attention to detail

This is a permanent full-time position paying $45–$50 per hour, depending on experience.
