Senior R&D Electronics Engineer

£50,000 - £70,000

This is a crucial role with the R&D team and one that will see you supporting in the design, development, prototyping and testing of existing and new machinery and robotics.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in electronic engineering, with a deep understanding of Schematic design and capture and design processes, embedded systems and testing and debug of prototype designs.

Key responsibilities for the Senior R&D Electronics Engineer

• Lead the design and development of hardware and software electronics.
• Design for cost and manufacturability.
• Define and implement best practices for design, testing, and quality control.
• Continuously evaluate and improve the performance and reliability of components.
• Develop functional specifications, feasibility studies and proposals for technical solutions
• Write technical documentation in accordance with the procedures defined in the Quality system (specifications, design and justification documents, technical reports, etc.)
• Prototyping and bench testing PCBs and circuits
• Real-time embedded C programming
• Use of microcontrollers/microprocessors in real-time applications (Microchip PIC24, dsPIC, PIC32, possibly ARM based devices)
• Interfacing firmware to peripheral devices (e.g. SPI, I2C, ADCs, EEPROM, etc.)
• Testing and debugging of embedded systems
• Use of communications protocols (e.g. USB, possibly Ethernet)

Key requirements for the Senior R&D Electronics Engineer

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware electronics design and development.
• Proven track record of leading complex hardware projects from concept to production.
• Strong expertise in digital design
• Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• Passion for innovation and a drive to push the boundaries of what is possible.
