Civil Engineer (BBBH2524) Dublin, Republic of Ireland
The role is within our civils division who’s primarily works are completed on behalf of Local Authorities on civil engineering and road projects such as road widening, junction upgrades, new bus lanes, cycleways and utility works.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Health and Safety procedures within your work. Ensuring you are responsible for yourself and/or team members who report into you
- Setting out on site to ensure that work progresses on time, all checks are carried out on a regular basis and checking drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations
- Monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect
- Reporting to the Contract Manager but will liaise closely with design, manufacturing, quality and safety teams, while also liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project. Also coordinating with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress
- Planning work and efficiently organising site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines and resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
- Partaking in Development and implementing the Company Quality management system while ensuring Quality and SAFE Delivery of Project
- Attendance of daily meetings and communicate on Safety and quality. Creation of appropriate paperwork and reports: Monthly quality KPI reports, construction feedback documents to measure manufacturing performance, compliance checking, accuracy to drawings, BCAR compliance, TII specifications, Irish Water Standard Details, record keeping etc
- Carry out all pre-delivery inspections on all works and ensure defects are recorded, communicated and actions implemented to prevent re-occurrence
- Participate in project handover meetings. Management of all inbound and outbound material deliveries
- Will be required to manage small number of crews involved in site works.
Requirements:
- Recognised level 8 degree in civil engineering or equivalent professional qualification
- Chartered Engineering accreditation not essential but beneficial
- At least 10 years post-qualification experience, 5 years of which is on large scale roadworks projects in city or suburban environments
- Experience working on contracts in a city or suburban environment, including the co-ordination of various construction activities such as utility diversion works (e.g. watermains, drainage connections etc), temporary traffic management (e.g. live traffic, cyclists, pedestrians and other vulnerable road users), landscaping and street furniture
- Experience with setting out instrumentation such as Total Stations / GPS Equipment
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Programmes, including Microsoft Project
- Good knowledge of setting out software such as AutoCAD, Total Station / GPS software, Trimble Business Center / Leica Infinity
- Good Technical Authoring Skills to develop RAMS, Risk Assessments etc.
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills required
