Management Accountant

Management Accountant (EGABS192) Birkenhead, England

Salary: GBP35000 - GBP42000 per annum + Additional benefits

A thriving construction group of companies with a strong reputation throughout the UK is currently looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join their business in a newly created role, on a full-time permanent basis, reporting directly to the board. This role is an opportunity for an individual to put their stamp on a growing finance department, whilst supporting the finance and commercial team.


You will be required to provide insightful management information and ensure that all finance governance is adhered to across the group at all times.


Responsibilities include;
• Production of timely and accurate Management Accounts for all companies
• Assist with the production of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets for all companies
• Posting of monthly Journals including accruals and prepayments
• Provide margin analysis and commentary on results, along with providing explanations for any internal queries raised in relation to the accounts
• Variance analysis where required ensuring that variances to forecast/budget are adequately explained
• Achieve group reporting requirements
• Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations (including intercompany accounts and transactions); flagging issues and communicating these.
• Continuous focus on improving reporting and accounts production process
• Management of the year-end process and assist in dealing with audit queries
• Managing and processing of VAT and CIS for all companies
• Other ad hoc duties and projects as required


To be successful within this role we are looking for an individual that has a strong finance and accounts experience within construction/building trade with the knowledge around compliance with key regulations around VAT, Reverse VAT, and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) - ideally. AAT qualification is essential, actively working towards CIMA / ACCA, however, a QBE with the right experience may be considered. Strong excel and system skills are imperative for this role along with knowledge of Xero.
