About the Role:

This is a senior leadership position with accountability for the overall payroll function, overseeing a team of four including a Team Leader responsible for day-to-day operations.

With a Dayforce implementation commencing soon, you will play a key role in partnering on a large-scale system transformation, ensuring a smooth transition while setting the function up for long-term success. The role requires a strategic, forward-thinking leader who can balance oversight with hands-on guidance, while ensuring strong alignment to legislation and best practice.

You will also partner closely across the organisation and externally, leveraging relationships to strengthen capability, drive continuous improvement and deliver a high-performing payroll function.

Duties:

  • Provide leadership across the payroll function, setting clear direction and expectations
  • Oversee the successful delivery of payroll operations through the Team Leader and broader team
  • Partner on the upcoming Dayforce implementation, ensuring a smooth transition and strong adoption
  • Maintain oversight of legislative compliance, awards and enterprise agreements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the organisation and externally
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and overall efficiency
  • Support the development of team capability and future succession planning 

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience leading payroll functions within complex environments
  • Demonstrated success delivering payroll system implementations (Dayforce experience highly regarded)
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at a senior level
  • Passion for developing teams and fostering a positive, accountable culture
