Work & Training operates across Tasmania and has around 40 staff based in offices located in Launceston, Devonport and Hobart. Work & Training are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Workplace Literacy Coordinator to work with one of our valued clients in Hobart.
This is a 2 day per week role (0.4FTE) for 12 months, with the opportunity for continuation subject to funding.
It is a requirement of the position to undertake an Australian Federal Police (AFP) National Police Check prior to appointment.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- A teaching or education qualification (TAE Certificate IV or higher, TESOL, or Bachelor Degree)
- A minimum 2 years’ experience teaching Language, Literacy and/or Numeracy to adults.
- Experience delivering adult literacy programs for people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse. (CALD) backgrounds.
- An understanding of the issues surrounding adult literacy.
- A knowledge of and an ability to apply the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), or the ability to quickly gain this knowledge.
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people.
Personal Attributes:
- High level of communication skills both oral and written.
- Respect for and valuing people from a CALD background.
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
- Excellent planning and organisational/time management skills with the ability to prioritise important tasks
- Ability to work autonomously and use own initiative
