Our client;

We are working alongside an progressive research & development business based in West Oxfordshire, our client are at the forefront of developing new innovative optic technology, who due to business growth and new product introduction are looking for an expert in the fielD of metrology to lead metrology technologies. 

The role; 

As the Metrology Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional team, enabling component understanding and providing feedback to the design, process development and operations teams.

You will be leading the development, qualification and implementation of metrology technologies for characterising optical and general engineering components. You will manage internal test equipment, and reporting to the wider team. Your role will require close and efficient coordination with the design and manufacturing teams and liaison with third party suppliers.

Flexibility will be needed where appropriate to support testing of components and sub-assemblies.

What you will be working on;

• Help in defining and developing optical metrology solutions including software and instrument qualification
• Run tests on existing internal metrology equipment – OGP
• Ensuring metrology is carried out in a robust and reliable method
• Fixture design and sourcing
• Owning and generating the product specification
• Implement and lead on new and existing product test plans and associate protocols and test equipment for design verification

Key knowledge & skills; 

Ideally we would like you to have a minimum of 5 years experience in a metrology role – if that role was in the optical field, that would be even better!

You need to have experience in material testing, testing planning and validating processes for equipment and test methods along with gauge R&R experience and knowledge of Six Stigma software.

It would be great if you also  have experience with metrology fixture design and have used OGP metrology equipment and its programming capability,
