Facilities Assistant

Facilities Assistant (NE021DL) Oxford, England

Salary: GBP20000 - GBP22800 per annum + Pension, Holiday, Health Cover

Our Client; 

We are proud to be working alongside a prestigious educational institute based just outside the heart of Oxford, who due to growth are seeking to appoint a facilities technician/assistant to join their fantastic laboratory & building services team. 

The Role; 

  • Receive incoming goods and deliveries, move to correct storage location and conditions, and alert building users to their arrival in a timely manner. Ensure delivery documentation is retained as appropriate for goods receipting.
  • Reconfigure and organise seminar and meeting rooms to meet the needs of users as directed, and maintain them in a tidy state.
  • Support relocation and moving of equipment coming into and around the building, this will include manual handling activities, full training will be provided.
  • Aid in the efficient operation of the laboratories by collecting general, biological and clinical waste for discard at regular intervals.
  • Operate laboratory autoclaves to treat waste and sterilise diluent/equipment according to validated processes. Full training will be provided.
  • Collect and process dirty laboratory glassware, including removing labels, loading into glass washing machines, and drying. Ensure that clean glassware is promptly returned to the laboratory and cupboards are well stocked.

Experience & Qualifications Required; 

  • Experience of working in a laboratory or facilities support role.
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in a science subject.
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team, as well as independently, while taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Positive attitude towards health and safety and knowledge of basic health and safety procedures and processes to protect yourself and others.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training.
  • Good level of organisation and computing skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to organise and maintain records in a logical and clear fashion. 
  • Proactive attitude to ensure that work is completed to a high standard and that a first-class service is provided to building users
