Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Mauri Ora – Student Health and Counselling at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is seeking someone experienced working with rangatahi. The role of the Kaiwhakatere Hauora is to connect students with supportive services based on campus, including health and counselling services offered by Mauri Ora. Mauri Ora works in a collaborative manner with other Students Services including, Āwhina, Pasifika Student Success, Disability Services, Student Learning, Wellington University International and Student Interest and Conflict Resolution.  Working alongside student representative groups will also be required.

 

Ō pūmanawa - About you 

Ideally, you will have the following:

  • Professional experience and a qualification relevant to working with young people.
  • Experience and interest in working with Māori and Pasifika models of wellbeing.
  • Proven ability to work with young people in a manner that is non-judgemental, flexible, empathetic, and sensitive to cultural and religious differences, gender identity and sexual orienatation.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and networking skills and the ability to build and sustain working relationships with rangatahi, staff in support services and external agencies.
  • Experience working in a health care and/or tertiary education setting.
  • Excellent computer skills.

This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
