Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is looking for an experienced web developer to join its Digital Engagement team as a team leader.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented professional to place the University at the forefront of best practice in the sector.  You will be an expert in web development, design and testing, adept at overseeing multiple requests and have excellent relationship management skills.

This role will see you working across the University to provide professional advice and leadership. You will lead the maintenance and development of our channels’ architecture, design, functionality, and technical testing to ensure we are continuously improving and meeting the needs of our audiences.  In addition to the website channel you will be involved in developing templates and forms for our marketing automation and email systems.

You will oversee a team of three developers who are responsible for enhancing our core channels and providing advice, support and training to the University. Your design and development team works alongside our content team to produce integrated solutions designed to meet the University’s strategic objectives.  The work will cover a wide range of initiatives including recruitment, research, student experience, stakeholder engagement and staff information.

You will have experience:

  • in the strategic development and evolution of web/digital engagement channels
  • working with large scale web content management systems (CMS) and familiarity with pervasive web protocols
  • developing complex web solutions across a range of platforms and technical environments
  • designing and developing websites and email communications to meet government accessibility standards and usability principles
  • working with modern web platforms and front end tools e.g. Angular, VueJs, Squiz
  • working with marketing automation tools, particularly Marketo
  • developing and implementing a technical testing programme
  • developing and maintaining effective relationships and networks
  • managing or mentoring developers and/or technical specialists
