Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role 

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Procurement Specialist to join the Digital Solutions Procurement Team on a part-time, permanent basis.  The role will be responsible for the purchasing of IT equipment and software, managing financial transactions and IT contracts, and supporting the administration of IT services. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Independently manage the purchasing of IT hardware and software assets 
  • Assist the DS Procurement Manager with tender processes in accordance with the University’s procurement policy and procedures to ensure the University operates in a fair and appropriate manner with vendors and makes effective purchasing decisions 
  • Look for efficiency and service gains across the DS procurement area

You will be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative and provide excellent administration and guidance on all Digital Solutions procurement processes.

You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills. 

Key Requirements:   

  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures within the tertiary or public sector environment 
  • Sound general knowledge of computing, IT terminology and the IT market and industry 
  • Experience in the administration of contracts and agreements 
  • Commercial acumen and background 
  • Knowledge of Service Level Agreements including appropriate reporting 
  • Experience in client relationship management, including both internal clients and external vendors 
  • Negotiation and influencing skills 
  • Strong analytical ability using common reporting tools 
  • Can work well within a team and independently
