Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a School Administrator, in the School of Social and Cultural Studies admin team, with a full-time permanent contract. The person in this role will be responsible for developing very good relationships with our postgrad students and support their community in our School. Further, the School Administrator will work with the rest of the Team to assist the programmes in their administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide accurate and timely information and advice to staff and students
  • Ensure active support for all course-related work, including course outlines, tutorial organisation, tutor contracts, assignment handling, grade entry, etc.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all postgraduate students.
  • Assisting with the Postgraduate Symposium and other relevant activities.

You will be a motivated, people-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent administration compliance and has an approachable attitude. 

You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, an ability to influence and manage conflict, attention to detail, and strong self-management skills.

You will be a natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a highly experienced team. You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff. You will have an ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive working with a diverse range of students and staff.  

Key Requirements: 

  • Experience in customer service and/or office administration, providing administrative services in a busy office.
  • Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences. 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of staff and students. 
  • Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
