Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Business Manager, University Accommodation.

Reporting to the Associate Director – Infrastructure and Services, you will help identify and support process improvement and change with a focus on developing a seamless and responsive student experience. As Business Manager you will continually use and grow your skill in requirements gathering, analyses and reporting on data to enable innovative, future-proofed decision-making.  As a manager of a small team you will provide high quality leadership and support to the staff.

You will bring significant experience within a complex multi-site organization that is expanding and growing and examples of how you made a positive difference to the lives of others and to the success of the organization. This includes the wider community, landlords and their agents.

As Business Manager you will bring proven systems and process improvement experience together with analytical skills in a complex business environment. You will have examples of innovation while preserving resources, using modelling and forecasting to mitigate risk and create opportunities.  Your ability to listen, positively influence and lead people, as well persuade and support others to focus on value-for-money services that have Victoria the university-of-choice, will have you stand out. 

Key Requirements: 

  • As a member of the management team contribute to and participate in operational and strategic planning activities.
  • As required, lead and support key projects, campaigns and initiatives focused on new and improved service delivery to all accommodation staff, students, and the University.
  • Maintain working relationships with the University including (but not limited to) Finance, Digital Solutions, Wellington University International, Scholarships and the wider Student and Campus Living team.
  • The ability to work within financial, quality, ethical, and health and safety parameters, including accurate and cost-effective pricing of work, reporting, and benchmarking.
  • Experience in problem solving, issues management, and key indicator monitoring and reporting with a client focus.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation, particularly Privacy.
  • Experience managing staff.
