Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The School of Economics and Finance, within the Wellington School of Business and Government, wishes to appoint an Associate Professor in Economics, specialising in Macroeconomics.  This is a permanent full-time (1 FTE) position commencing mid-2023 (negotiable).  The role combines a focus on both research and teaching.  Teaching will be at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and include supervision of students.  You will join a school with passionate staff who seek to make a difference through their work.  Located next door to New Zealand’s Government institutions there are opportunities related to fiscal, monetary, and policy issues for those interested in pursuing them.

Upon negotiation, this role could have a 0.2 FTE research collaboration with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

While this appointment is for Associate Professor in Economics, the school is also seeking interests at Lecturer and Senior Lecturer levels with a specialisation in Marcoeconomics.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

The successful applicant will possess a relevant PhD.  A proven record of high-quality publications in Macroeconomics and adjacent fields is required, as well as a current research pipeline.  You will have experience teaching (ideally, both in-person and online) in Macroeconomics, and potentially other areas.  The School of Economics and Finance is a collegial environment and you will be expected to contribute both as an individual and as a team member.

You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work with students from a range of backgrounds.
