Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Caretaking Supervisor to join our Caretaking (operations) team. The role is responsible for leading a team of six staff to ensure caretaking services are carried out to a high standard and in a timely manner. Services include: managing access to buildings, setting up rooms, relocations, distributing milk, moving furniture and other items as required, notifying maintenance requirements and faults as appropriate, security services, first responders for emergencies and incidents etc.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure an effective and efficient allocation of work tasks and services.
  • Ensure customer service is provided at a high level, with continuous improvement.
  • Ensure staff levels are maintained, all staff are trained, have the appropriate tools for their work, and are working as a high-performing team.
  • Ensure compliance is achieved in Health and Safety, and risks are effectively managed.
  • Support an effective emergency response.

  • You will be a roll your sleeves up type of person who will help the team out when under pressure and lead by example.
  • You will be self-motivated and work well with others to achieve common goals.
  • You will be physically fit and have the ability to work well under pressure.
  • You will have a common-sense approach to new and challenging situations which arise.
  • You will have good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • You will have a full drivers licence and excellent interpersonal skills.
