Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role 

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Research Assistant to join the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice on a fixed term contract for up to 14 months. The role will be responsible for completing qualitative data analyses of six focus groups and developing a coding framework for the results.  

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Verify the accuracy of transcribing for six focus groups for the study and amend as appropriate. 
  • Analyse the transcripts using an iterative and inductive approach to thematic analysis as per Braun and Clarke. 
  • Develop a coding framework for the results. 

 

Ō pūmanawa - About you 

It is expected that successful applicants will meet the below selection criteria:  

  • Completed Bachelors/Masters qualification in a health-related discipline. 
  • Experience in analysing qualitative data, preferable in an iterative inductive approach to thematic analysis. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.  
  • Ability to effectively analyse qualitative data and produce reports and documents.
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail regarding managing research activities. 
  • Excellent computer skills in using Microsoft applications and other research software packages, such as NVIVO qualitative data analysis software.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.  
  • Ideally previous experience in qualitative research.
