Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Recreation Advisor to join the University Recreation Wellington team.

Our Recreation Advisors are based at the hub of all things sports and recreation at the University. Working in an exciting and dynamic team environment, the Recreation Advisors ensure students and the wider University community receive the very best customer service. 

The Recreation Advisor will help University Recreation Wellington and the wider Directorate achieve its goals by providing efficient, timely, customer-focused administrative and operational support and deliver recreational services that support and enhance the student experience. 

We need someone who is organised, innovative and passionate about sport and recreation. This is an ideal role for someone looking for diverse development opportunities and the chance to make a real difference to the lives of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure recreation spaces are safe, welcoming and accessible for the University community.
  • Ensure all customer service processes and back-office systems are efficient and effective, regularly reviewing and adjusting with technology and staff changes. 
  • Contribute to the maintaining and developing of the central database for University Recreation Wellington, ensuring the best use of its functionality and challenging existing business processes as progress is made.
  • Ensure core operational administration is completed with accuracy and professionalism. This includes daily banking, operational data, reporting, and stock management. 

Along with a proven ability to multi-task and communicate effectively, essential skills to apply for the role include:

Essential

  • A tertiary qualification in Physical Education, Recreation or other related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • The ability to work on a rostered shift system.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the university, tertiary and student environment.
  • Previous experience in fitness, recreation or sports administration
  • Experience coordinating and supervising recreational events
  • A current First Aid Certificate.
