Te Herenga Waka | Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Professor of Nursing to join the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice.

The School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice is seeking a senior academic to join our growing school at Victoria University of Wellington within the Faculty of Health as a Professor in Nursing. Offering a newly developed graduate entry nursing programme, existing Bachelor of Midwifery, Masters and Doctoral programmes, the School is uniquely located at Wellington Regional Hospital in New Zealand's capital city and maintains strong relationships with national policy and health service stakeholders. 

In this role, you will be expected to provide a high level of academic and disciplined leadership to the School and University through initiating, implementing and participating in research, supervision, teaching, curriculum development and industry engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide research leadership within the School
  • Undertake postgraduate research supervision at Masters and PhD level.
  • Provide strategic leadership and teaching into our Doctor of Nursing programme, Master of Health, advanced practice Master of Nursing Science and graduate entry nursing programme.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to academic staff

Key Requirements:

  • Doctoral Qualification
  • Extensive experience in teaching and supervising at postgraduate level
  • A strong international reputation in research
  • An excellent record of academic leadership and research scholarship, both in terms of publications and funded research.

Note: Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor.

This is a permanent position and commences as early as October 2020.
