Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Research Assistant to join Te Tātai Hauora o Hine (the Centre for Women’s Health Research) on a 2-year fixed-term part-time contract. The role is to support Kaupapa Māori research underway and led by Te Tātai Hauora o Hine including He Tapu Te Whare Tangata: Empowering Rural Solutions – an innovative cervical cancer prevention pathway.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake research activities required for studies underway with Te Tātai Hauora o Hine.
  • Input and manage confidential data.
  • Work with other researchers and Iwi in relation to the studies.
  • Attend relevant research meetings including face to face and via Zoom.
  • Perform literature searches.
  • Contribute to research related reports and writing.

You will be a motivated individual with an interest in Kaupapa Māori Research and women’s health.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing to a high performing team.

You will have effective time management skills with strong attention to detail.

Key Requirements:

  • The ability to work on a project or projects require a significant degree of skill, initiative and independence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Understanding of Kaupapa Māori Research.
  • Aptitude for accurate work and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an organised and structured manner without supervision.
  • An adaptive approach to work and an ability to tackling a variety of tasks.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to contribute to the development and vision of Te Tātai Hauora o Hine.
