Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for an Associate Director – Digital Engagement.  The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the execution of the University’s web presence and other digital assets to achieve engagement and marketing goals.

This is a pivotal role in a team working collaboratively across the University to elevate its reputation in digital channels and increase engagement from key stakeholder groups domestically and internationally. Audiences include current and prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students, the campus community, alumni, industry, government and other interested stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of web and digital content strategy, and user experience across a large and complex channel of more than 120 websites.
  • Contribute to digital marketing campaign development and the presentation of the University’s brand.
  • Lead a team including digital design/developers and content specialists along with project management and business analysis expertise.
  • Lead relationship management for the web throughout the University.

You will need to be strategic in your thinking, with the ability to get things done operationally. You’ll be data-driven, responsive, and highly-collaborative with an open and collegial style. It will be necessary to have a combination of technical and content knowledge and you’ll demonstrate an ability to deliver practical results.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes leading a high performing team.  Most importantly, the Associate Director – Digital Engagement must be passionate about the digital environment and have a drive for excellence with which they can inspire others.

Key Requirements:

  • Substantial experience in digital at a senior level in a large
  • A demonstrable history in delivering against objectives and budgets.
  • Experience in leading and managing
  • Outstanding communication skills including the ability to adjust to different audiences.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
