Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington's School of Engineering is pleased to announce a new position in a team of academics delivering New Zealand's first Cybersecurity undergraduate degree. Join us in educating the next generation of Cybersecurity professionals and contributing to our research programme.

The Senior Lecturer role focuses not only on delivering high-quality teaching and research but also service that supports the School and programme. Applications are welcome in any area that complements our expertise in Cybersecurity including digital forensics, incident handling, penetration testing, malware analysis, systems, information assurance and network security.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity reporting directly to the Head of School you will:

  • Review and design course content on Cybersecurity that is relevant and incorporates new research
  • Teach in a way that stimulates students’ learning in the discipline in general and in your specialist area
  • Supervise students undertaking research in your areas of expertise and interest
  • Undertake innovative and valuable research in Cybersecurity which were appropriate incorporates Maori and Pasifika perspectives and interests, and provides cultural innovation or socio-economic benefits
  • Engage with key stakeholders including government and professional or disciplinary bodies

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed a PhD in a relevant field
  • An established track record in research publication, creative work and attracting competitive level funding for research activities
  • Demonstrable experience delivering a high standard of teaching and supervision of student research in a relevant field at tertiary level
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work and engage with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • A proven commitment to the academic discipline, University and their profession.
