Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

As a result of a recent review of our accommodation structure six new Night Manager roles have been created to enable seven day a week overnight cover in all our halls of residence. As part of a team of Night Managers on a four-day-on-four-day-off roster, you will focus on engagement and connection in a way that enhances wellbeing, safety, security and academic success for our residents.

You will assist and guide our Residential Advisors, ensuring they work to scope and are confident in their role, and a unique skill will be your ability to engage with a diverse range of residents, many away from home for the first time.

The role has a focus on the health, welfare and safety of residents, security of the buildings and provision of support, assistance and guidance to rostered Residential Advisors.

You may have experience in the health or accommodation sectors.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will bring clarity of thought and maturity to decision-making, particularly in heat-of-the moment situations, positively influencing, persuading, and supporting residents to live and study in the Halls in a way that fosters a unique Victoria University of Wellington community feel.

In particular you will:

  • Enjoy working with young people from a range of cultures and backgrounds who are transitioning to independence in a communal living environment.
  • Be an approachable and trusted person who is able to manage a range of wellbeing and behavioural situations with skill and care.
  • Have proficient computer skills including using database and reporting systems.

Full COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the role.
