Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a 0.5 FTE Senior Administrator on an initial 18 month fixed term contract (with possible extension). The role will be primarily responsible to the School Manager, School of Information Management, but will work closely with the Science Leader, Veracity Spearhead Project. The role performs a key administration and coordination function to assist the Science Leader to effectively deliver the goals and objectives of the Spearhead Project, a pioneering project designed to build and develop transformative veracity technologies as well as create opportunities for New Zealand businesses.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsive, proactive, high-quality administration and project support for the Science Leader.
  • Management of the Veracity Lab office and its resourcing, member and visitor requirements.
  • Grants and finance administration, including associated contracts and scholarships administration.
  • Events coordination and assistance.

You are a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high-performing team. You have effective time and self-management skills and are able to anticipate and meet deadlines. A growth mindset and the ability to remain calm under pressure are natural qualities.  

Key Requirements: 

  • Experience in delivering grant and research administration services, preferably in a tertiary environment. 
  • Excellent self-management and experience as part of a high-performing team operating in a dynamic context.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and to adjust to different audiences. 
  • Ability to use technology effectively and efficiently, including a wide variety of software.
