Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

As a result of growth, Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Head of Hall role in the University Accommodation team.

University Accommodation Wellington is responsible for the development and implementation of the university’s student accommodation. We are looking for a Head of Hall for catered hall that service a diverse group of young adults, including Māori and Pasifika, and international students.

As a Head of Hall, you will:

  • Champion community engagement and culture within the hall and as part of the wider hall community and university.
  • Lead a team to provide a high quality and safe residential experience for students.
  • Work with students to plan for their academic and personal wellbeing success.
  • Ensure team training and development and be part of the training programme for staff across all halls.
  • Ensure budgets are met or exceeded, and maintenance requirements are met.
  • Share on-call duties after hours with the Deputy Head of Hall.

 

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will have experience working with young people, managing staff, as well as effectively managing financial and administrative systems. You will need to ensure that the residences are appropriately maintained to the required safety and wellbeing requirements of the University, and the budget is well managed. You will have a proven understanding of the duty of pastoral care, and experience supporting student academic success and personal growth. You will have experience as a first-responder for critical incidents and of risk management in a welfare context.

This role requires you to be COVID-19 vaccinated.
