Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Property Manager, University Accommodation.   

Reporting to the Associate Director Student Living – Infrastructure and Services you will provide a focus on providing planned and reactive maintenance that optimises the use of and long-term value of the university’s property portfolio, which in turn will enable the university to provide safe and affordable housing options for its students.  

You will bring significant experience within a complex multi-site organization that is expanding and growing and examples of how you made a positive difference to the lives of others and to the success of the organisation. This includes the wider community, landlords and their agents.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high-performing team. You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff.  

Your ability to relate well to a wide range of people, set and meet high standards personally and professionally, focus on what is most important and be calm under pressure will have you widely respected, and have students talking positively about their experience.  

Key Requirements:   

  • Demonstrated experience in a large multi-site property maintenance environments, buildings, and grounds  
  • Relevant trades skills/qualification 
  • Contract management across all aspects of property maintenance including tenancy and lease agreements, and the collating and reporting of key indicators  
  • The ability to work within financial, quality, ethical, and health and safety parameters, including accurate and cost-effective pricing of work, reporting, and benchmarking  
  • Experience in problem solving, issues management, and key indicator monitoring and reporting with a client focus  
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulation, particularly Health and Safety and Privacy 
  • Property related project management qualification and experience  
  • Experience managing staff
