The School of Psychology is inviting applications for a permanent part-time (0.8 FTE) Kaiāwhina Tauira position. The Kaiāwhina will help develop and support initiatives for Māori undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Psychology with a view toward improving recruitment, retention, and advancement of those students. The role includes acting as a liaison on behalf of Māori students, coordinating and contributing to the teaching of an integrated system of Kaupapa Māori psychology tutorials, working with staff to support the development of Māori-relevant curricula and Ako Māori practices in psychology, and more generally helping the school and its staff to fulfill its Treaty of Waitangi obligations.

The successful applicant will possess a minimum of a completed undergraduate degree in Psychology or a related field, have knowledge of Te ao Māori and Māori tikanga, and experience of teaching, tutoring, or mentoring. The appointee will work closely with the Lecturer in Maori and Indigenous Psychology, and build relationships with Te Kawa a Māui (School of Māori Studies), Āwhina, and other support services for Māori in the broader University.
