Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The School of Management Te Kura Whakahaere, within the Wellington School of Business and Government Ōrauariki, wish to appoint a Lecturer in Management. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in December 2022 (negotiable). This appointment provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to teaching and research within the School of Management and the University. You will join a multidisciplinary School with a team that values collaboration, innovative thinking, excellence in teaching as well as fostering relationships with practitioner communities and other stakeholders.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

The successful applicant will have a doctoral qualification and an emerging record of scholarly research. You will have experience in teaching courses (via face-to-face and online) in project management, operations management, supply chain management and systems thinking. We encourage applications from candidates who will offer the School versatility in their teaching, with willingness and abilities to teach in other areas, such as introductory courses in business and general management.

The successful applicant is also expected to assist with the development of undergraduate and postgraduate programme curricula and to take on appropriate service roles in contribution to the effective administration and management of the School.  

You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of teaching and research.  

Key Requirements: 

  • A completed doctoral qualification in a relevant field of study
  • An emerging record of scholarly research
  • Experience in teaching project management, operations management, supply chain management and systems thinking with evidence of a strong teaching capability  
  • A commitment to working with research teams and seeking research funding.
