Geological Team – HSE Officer (28/01/2025) Windhoek, Namibia

We are looking for a Geological Team – HSE Officer  for one of our clients with the following details:  

Start Date: ASAP

Location : TREKKOPJE site Namibia

Work conditions: 12h shift work (7days/7 24h/24)

Duration: 11 months (Feb-Nov)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar position – preferred in Mining industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health, safety, or environmental field of study
  • Valid NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent certification
  • Experience in multicultural context
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

Key Skills:

  • Have demonstrated experience in industrial environment (mining, oil& gas, chemistry ...)
  • In depth knowledge of Namibian HSE legislation and procedures
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Have strong team relationship skills in multicultural context.
  • Be self-motivated, team-oriented, and flexible.
  • Be health, safety, and quality focused.
  • Agile, quickly adapts to changing conditions during project development
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to think critically
  • Strong communication skills with all categories of stakeholders in the project

Role description:

  • Making regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.,
  • Investigating/recording incidents & accidents,
  • Making recommendations following accidents/incidents,
  • Providing health and safety induction for employees, visitors and contractors working on site,
  • Organizing / attending health and safety meetings with site contractors when needed,
  • Checking risk assessment prepared by execution team and develop appropriate control measures to minimize workplace hazards,
  • Delivering relevant permits (hot works, confined space, lifting …)
  • Participating to pre-job brief with supervisors and workers to ensure that main HSE messages are transmitted (related to risks) and understood in consistency with the scope of work.
  • Identifying potential hazards,
  • Determining ways of reducing risks on site,
  • Keeping HSE registers up to date
  • Monitoring and reviewing HSE performance metrics and provide reports to management, highlighting areas of concern and recommending improvements,
  • Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation applicable in Namibia,
  • Promoting safety initiatives.
