Drive Train Specialist (15/11/2024) Paris, France

We are looking for a Drive Train Specialist for one of our clients with the following details:

Location: Paris, France, with assignments in Shanghai, China (one week every two months) + occasional telecommuting

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: More than 6 months

Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Experience in Wind Turbine Drive Train Design: Expert level required in design standards.
  • Education: Master of Science (M.Sc.) in engineering or related education - advanced.
  • Professional Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in the design, research and/or production of drive trains for wind turbines - confirmed.
  • Drive Train Inspection and Repair: Experience in the inspection and repair of transmission systems.

Technical lines are responsible for technical expertise and solutions for various activities, while customer lines prioritize and coordinate these activities. This item is part of the wind turbine technical line.

Objectives and Deliverables

Activity Support

  • Drive Train Expertise: To act as a specialist in power transmission systems for onshore and offshore wind turbines.
  • Technical Assessments: Participate in technical due diligence and evaluate various drive train designs.
  • Inspection Data Analysis: Review and evaluate inspection data from the O&M organization.
  • Maintenance Strategies: Support the O&M organization in the development of maintenance strategies for transmission systems.
  • Quality Assurance: Support the project organization on quality activities, in particular on the production of bearings and gearboxes.
  • Validation & Verification: Participate in validation and verification efforts to evaluate turbine performance and/or the introduction of new technologies.
  • Technical Negotiations: Assist projects during technical negotiations in the bidding process for turbines.
  • Documentation: Document technical due diligence and establish turbine failure rates.

Expertise Development

  • Training: Train the team on drive train technology and associated challenges.
  • Design Standards: Develop design standards and provide technical feedback for technology evolution.
  • Supplier Relationships: Establish relationships with turbine suppliers and transmission system manufacturers.
  • R&D and Roadmaps: Contribute to R&D programs and technical roadmaps in his/her area of expertise.
