Material Engineer

Material Engineer (25/09/2023) Louveciennes, France

We are looking for Material Engineer one of our clients with the following details: 

Start date: ASAP.

End date: 1 year renewable

Location: The Project QC & Material engineer position is based in Louveciennes, France

Frequent travels to subcontractors’ facilities, and suppliers’ facilities in Europe is expected. It could be necessary to spend 3 to 4 weeks at the subcontractors’ facilities at the start.

Qualification and Experience Required:

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Material Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Material Engineer & QC
  • Welding certification is a plus (IWS,IWT,CSWIP,AWS)
  • NDT certification or strong knowledge in RT, AUT appreciated.
  • Pipeline and/or piping project experience in cryogenic service is a plus.
  • Proven Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and ASTM standard references
  • Knowledge of industry processes, codes & standards, including welding, NDT, and coating
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and organization skills
  • Solution oriented, with focus on customer satisfaction and attention to detail
  • Fluent French and English technical language are mandatory.

Description of the Function:

  • The Project QC & Material Engineer is in charge to work in close collaboration with the QA/QC & Engineering department (Procurement & Fabrication) to provide any material & welding support and expertise. He/ She will act as a technical support for the review and issuance of project documentation, actively participates in resolution of technical matters, follow the procurement and fabrication activities related to the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Job Holder is responsible, within the LNG team, for following-up, monitoring and supervising Quality Control (QC), Manufacturing & Inspection activities carried out by our Sub Supplier’s during the Engineering, Procurement, Supply, & Construction phases, ensuring that QC contractual and technical requirements are duly applied by Sub Suppliers and Supplier.
  • The Job Holder is also accountable for demonstrating, individually, an exemplary behaviour regarding HSSE rules & requirements.
  • The Job Holder shall have multi discipline skill (Material engineering, ASME codes VIII, IX, V B31.3, ASTM, computing pack office, email…)
  • The Job Holder can participate in routine and random inspections / tests, etc, performs QC visits and tours and ensures an adequate reporting (areas of concerns, problems encountered in the implementation of the QC Inspection Plan by the Sub Supplier) is monitored and shared with the QA/QC Manager.
  • The job holder is responsible for identifying and coordinating such inspection requirements in conjunction and upon request from with the QA/QC Manager.
  • In general manner, the job holder helps the Procurement team but can also assist the Fabrication package (located in Ranville (14) France) with: Quality related matters associated within PLNG scope of work.
  • The Job Holder is in charge to ensure any non-conformity are correctly identified, reported and correctly managed with the QA/QC Manager
  • The Job Holder is also in charge (upon QA/QC Manager request) to monitor and follow any Procurement PO and scope of supply in Europe.
  • The Job Holder shall issue detail inspection report after each site visit.

  • 36 Ni INVAR grade pipes (40in / 34in / 28in)

  • Low temperature Carbon Steel (LTCS) pipes 40in
