We are looking for Technician for sample dispatch for one of our clients with the following details:
Location: TREKKOPJE site, Namibia
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 5 months – with a flexibility according to campaign progress
Qualification and Experience Required:
- Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. A degree or certification in geology, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in sample handling, logistics, or related roles, preferably in drilling or mining operations. Familiarity with geological sample management is an asset.
- Language: Fluent in English written and spoken
- Main skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Purpose
- The Sample Technician Dispatcher is responsible for ensuring the efficient collection, organisation, storage, and dispatch of geological samples during a drilling campaign. This role involves coordinating with the drilling team, managing sample inventories, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- The position requires strong organisational skills, leadership capabilities, and attention to detail to manage the workflow and logistics effectively.
Job Description
Team management
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of four operators (2 per shift).
- Assign tasks and schedules to ensure seamless operations in sample collection, storage, and dispatch.
- Provide training and guidance to the team on sample handling procedures and safety protocols.
- Monitor team performance and address any operational challenges.
Sample collection and handling:
- Coordinate with drilling teams to ensure timely collection of geological samples.
- Handle, label, and transport samples from the drilling site to the designated storage facility.
- Ensure samples are preserved to maintain their integrity for analysis.
Storage and organization
- Develop and maintain an organized storage system for samples, ensuring easy access and traceability.
- Monitor and manage storage conditions (from outside) to prevent sample degradation.
- Maintain a detailed inventory of all stored samples, including physical and digital records.
Dispatch and logistics
- Coordinate the timely dispatch of samples to laboratories or other designated locations.
- Prepare and pack samples securely for transportation, ensuring compliance with shipping and safety regulations.
- Track sample shipments and resolve any logistical issues.
Data management and reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation of sample collection, storage, and dispatch activities.
- Generate and distribute regular reports to relevant to the chief geologist.
- Ensure data integrity and security by following established protocols.
Safety and compliance
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and company protocols for handling and storing samples.
- Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Identify and report potential risks or hazards related to sample storage and transportation.
Team management and collaboration
- Act as a liaison between drilling teams, geologists, and laboratory personnel.
- Train team members (4 operators in rotation) on sample handling procedures as needed.
- Communicate effectively to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
